Welcome to the official website of the Mooresville All Americans

The All Americans Make Move to AACBL

The Mooresville All Americans have made the move from the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League to the All American Collegiate Baseball League. The AACBL is a new summer league that will be based out of North Carolina. The AACBL will be a huge step up in talent from the CVCL and will be a much more organized league. Coach Busa was quoted as saying, "It will be nice to be in a sanctioned league with some organization. The CVCL did not have a commissioner and inmates ran the asylum over there". Keep up to date with the AACBL website which will hit the web early in the new year...We'll keep you posted!

Mooresville's season came to an end last night but not without some laughs and life-long memories! It was a great season and I'll never forget these guys...they are, and will always be, part of my family!

Check out the highlights from last night...http://youtu.be/n7UeuhiRRPo

That's Why They Play the Game

Mooresville runs into a buzz-saw as they were no hit through 5.2 then loaded the bases in the 6th, scored once then left them loaded. Everything was in line for us but we blew it. Mooresville will battle powerhouse Catawba tomorrow night at 8. We got our work cut out for us...down but not out! You will be able to watch us on game changer tomorrow night. Go to gamechanger website and find us...track the game!

                                                      Play-offs Start Today

Today at 3 PM at Rich Park in Mocksville, NC. Hope to see lots of Mooresville gear in the stands...and bring your voices!

                                                        **Time Change**

                                                      Bring on the Play-offs

The regular season ended today with another DH rain-out. We ended the season with four straight rain-outs. The All-Star Game will be played Tuesday Night and Play-offs will begin Thursday. The All Americans will get the 3-seed in the 9-team format. We will open up in Mocksville at 5 PM on Thursday and will be battling the West Virginia Wild. We will be short-handed as the league leader in wins (Zach Soulier) and the league leader in Home Runs (Billy Karalis) have gone home for the summer for personal reasons. They will be missed but the beat goes on for these All Americans. Hope to see you at the Park in Mocksville Thursday Night at 5!

                                          Mooresville Finishes up Home Schedule

Your All Americans will travel to Fuquay Varina to battle the Twins for four games this weekend. This weekend will determine whether the All Americans will finish with a 2, 3, 4 or 5 seed in the CVCL Tournament. The post-season tournament will begin on Thursday, 02Aug12 in Mocksville, NC.                                                                   Make it Nine

The Mooresville All Americans have added OF Billy Karalis to the All Star Team. Congrats Billy and congrats to the All Americans for having the most players represented in this years All Star Game with 9!

Eight All Americans Named to the CVCL All Star Team

The Mooresville All Americans have 8 selections to the summer classic at Holt Moffitt in Lexington. Pitchers Christian Hicks, Armand Rugel and Zach Soulier will be the arms representing the All Americans. Catcher Mike Falsetti, 1B Dylan Begin, 2B Julio Zubillaga, 3B Nik Campero and OF Chris Rosa will be bringing the lumber to the All Star Game. All the excitement of the game is over-shadowed by the guys who got snubbed. OF Billy Karalis is leading the league in home runs, OF Josh Wood is hitting almost .400 with a couple bombs, IF Gunnar Hogan is hitting .355 with a couple bombs, OF Zack Smith is hitting .348 with a couple jacks, Mooresville's IF Josh Holcomb is hitting .315 and C Parker Hills is red hot lately raising his average up to .260 with 3 HR. That is just the Hitters...now for the Snubbed Pitchers. Jacob Russell is leading the league in Saves and has a sub 1 ERA and WHIP. He has been lights out. Forrest Buchanan has been one of the best pitchers in the CVCL over the past month, TJ Miler has battled Lyme Disease and still put up a 2.53 ERA and a WHIP of 1.19, Casey Liles has done everything expected and more and Matt Wojichowski has been better then most in this league. Oh well, just another chip to add to the shoulder for these Mooresville All Americans. Congrats to those who will be representing Mooresville in the All Star Game!

Chris Rosa Named JuCo 1st Team All American

Mooresville All American outfielder, Chris Rosa, was named 1st Team Junior College All American. Rosa hit .444 with 8 Home Runs. Congratulations Chris!

                                                    Mooresville Sweeps Coastal Plains

The Mooresville All Americans completed their season sweep of the Coastal Plains League. The All Americans defeated Wilson Tobs 3-0, Petersburg Generals 9-1 and beat the Thomasville Hi-Toms tonight 11-3. The game was close, 4-3 into the 9th, when the All Americans found the end zone and kicked the extra point for a 7 spot in the 9th making the final 11-3. Parker Hills and Mike Falsetti each hit their 3rd home run of the summer. Mooresville  has hit 30 bombs this summer and leads the CVCL. Nik Campero has continued his ridiculous season as he went 3-4 and brought his average to a blistering .538 on the summer. Campero also drove in 3 runs. Starting pitcher, TJ Miller pitched well but ran into issues in the 4th. Miller has had health issues and just ran out of gas. Armand Rugel was lights out for 4 1/3 to earn the win. Mooresville has a DH Wednesday and Thursday vs the West Virginia Wild.

                                                Mooresville Wins a Roller-Coaster Game

The Mooresville All Americans traveled to Danville, Va yesterday to do battle with the Virginia Marlins. In game 1, Mooresville jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Nik Campero's 2nd bomb of the season. The All Americans looked up after the 2nd inning and found themselves trailing 6-2. Thats when things got fun. Josh Wood led off the 3rd with an opposite field jack that wrapped around the foul pole in right. Kyle Arbuckle followed a couple of hits with a smash off the fence that drove in a run which was followed by RBI singles from Will Raines and Michael Cobb. Mooresville had tied the game 6-6 after 3. The 4th started off promising until Danville recorded 2 quick outs. With two on and two out, the hero of the day, Will Raines stepped to the dish and drilled a 2-run single to left center. Leading 8-6, Mooresville gave the lead back to Danville in the 5th and trailed 9-8 in the 6th. To start the 6th, Mike Falsetti tied the game by belting his 2nd home run of the summer over the left field wall. Raines then smashed a ball off the wall for a double and scored on Michael Cobb's single. Cobb eventually scored to make the score 10-9 Mooresville. Campero led off the 7th with a single and scored on another Arbuckle smash. Mooresville wins game 1 11-9.

Game 2 was never in doubt. After Josh Wood and Zack Smith led off with singles, Dylan Begin peppered the center field fence with a 2-run double. Mooresville would not look back. Raines led off the 2nd with a double and scored when Josh Wood drove him in. Chris Rosa doubled to lead off the 3rd and scored on an RBI single by Michael Cobb. Cobb, was then knocked in by, surprise surprise, Will Raines on another double. Parker Hills led off the 5th with, an absolute no doubter, bomb to left field. JD Long knocked in a run with a single and so did Zack Smith. The inning ended on a Dylan Begin sac fly to score Long but Smith was thrown out at 2nd trying to tag up...but the run counted.
All in all it was a great day for All American Nation!

Mooresville's next game is at historic Finch Field in Thomasville, at 5 PM, as the All Americans look to continue their dominance of the Coastal Plains League.

                                                                   All Americans Take Out Tobs

Picture
Beautiful facilities and a lot of trash talking were not enough for the Wilson Tobs to defeat the Mooresville All Americans. The Wilson Tobs play in the very prestigious Coastal Plains League. Zach Soulier pitched seven incredible innings as he kept the Wilson hitters off balance all night long. He surrendered only two hits and made the hitters look foolish. Armand Rugel walked the first hitter he faced then retired the next three. Jacob Russell hit his first hitter then retired the next three earning his ninth save of the summer. Chris Rosa ripped a triple in the sixth inning and scored the first run of the game. Nik Campero drilled three hits, Dylan Begin and Zack Smith each added a pair of hits. The All Americans picked apart the Tobs pitching and out hit the Tobs 11-2. Way to go fellas and lets roll!

Life-Long Memories

                                                                    All Americans Keep Rolling

Your Mooresville All Americans continue to stay hot as they win in comeback fashion both games vs the Smoky Mountain Big Train. Mooresville took a 3-0 lead in the 1st when Mike Falsetti hit his first bomb of the summer, a 3-run jack. The Big Train came back with two in the next two frames to take a 4-3 lead. Falsetti then hit a rope for a double that scored Zack Smith who led off the inning by wearing one. Mooresville put the game away with four runs in the 5th capped off by Josh Rouse knocking his first hit of the summer, a 2-run double. Rouse hasn't played since last October when he suffered a back injury. After only a few visits with Dr Spencer Charlet of Active Spine Chiropractic, Rouse is back on the field contributing.

In game 2, Mooresville fell behind 2-0 in the 3rd but responded with 2 of their own in the home frame of the 3rd. The Big Train got a solo shot in the 4th and held a 4-2 lead going into the bottom half of the 6th. That is when All Americans hitter Nik Campero hit a 3-run jack to take the lead and win the game 5-4. Jacob Rusell recorded 2 saves on the afternoon to bring his season total to 7. After the game Coach Busa had this to say, "The Big Train are a class act and a very talented team. They are well coached and when things click for them, they will be tough to beat. They look a lot like we did  when we were trying to figure it out. They'll be ok, and when they gel, look out". The Mooresville All Americans are now 16-6 and have won 14 of their last 16 games. We now head to Myrtle Beach to play the new "Beach League" for 10 games in 5 days. We'll keep you posted!

                                                                        All Americans Stay Hot

The Mooresville All Americans swept the Chops of Lexington today. The All Americans won game 1 on a walk off Jack by Dylan Begin. The game started the way it ended as Zack Smith blasted the first pitch of the game over the left field fence for a home run. After a back and forth game, the All Americans went into the bottom of the 7th in a 4-4 tie, when Dylan Begin blasted an outside fastball over the right field fence for the walk off home run and the win. In game 2, the game was not as close. Michael Cobb and Julio Zubillaga went back to back jacks to pace the All Americans to an 8-2 victory. Mooresville has won 12 of its last 14 games and should be on a 14 game win streak if not for a blown call in Roanoke. Tomorrow is for second place as the All Americans will battle Tennessee Big Train in Granite Quarry.

                                                                   Amazing Night at the Ballpark

The Mooresville All Americans did battle with the US Military All Stars tonight and who cares who won (for the record, we did 4-2). Tonight was a night that these guys will never forget. A Ground Zero Flag Ceremony was performed before the game and the entire pregame ceremony was breath-taking and emotional for this coach. Words cannot describe the feelings, emotions and goose-bumps felt from everyone at the park. If you did not make it...YOUR LOSS! Just about every player approached me after the game to thank me and said that this is a night they will never forget and that this was the best experience they have ever had! I am hoping to get pictures and post them as soon as I get them. A HUGE thank you to the Hilton Garden Inn, Prosciutto Pizza, the Patriot Guard, Biker Bill of the Patriot Guard, General Sinclair, Senator Chris Carney, the South Iredell HS Marines Color Guard, the fans who attended, my wife, and mostly, the US Military All Star team for giving us this experience...can't wait to do it again next summer!

                                                                              REMINDER!!!!

New Daddy Wins on Father's Day

Mooresville All Americans pitcher, and new father, Christian Hicks earned the win on Fathers Day. The All Americans traveled to Pulaski, Va to play the Rookie Team for the Seattle Mariners. The All Americans beat the Mariners 9-7. Timely hitting, and a little wildness from Pulaski pitchers, paved way for Mooresville. A missed call caused Mooresville hearts to pound as centerfielder Michael Cobb made a great diving catch that should have ended the inning. The umpire ruled it a drop and three runs scored. The umpire crew did a phenomenal job other then the one missed call. Mooresville was a little flustered, as were the many fans in All Americans gear that made the trip, but they buckled down and finished the job. Armand Rugel came out of the pen and did an outstanding job shutting down the Mariners hitters. Jacob Russell came in to slam the door to record his 4th save. Chris Rosa (4 walks) ended the game by making 2 catches in the last frame and the second catch was followed by Rosa gunning the runner trying to tag from 2nd base to 3rd. Nik Campero and Mike Falsetti led the way offensively as Camps went 3-3 and Falsetti drove in 4 runs with a 2-3 night. Nice win today! Next game will be Tuesday night vs the US Military All Stars with pregame festivities starting around 6:15. I really hope you can all make that game! Tickets are $10 for this game (Its a fund-raiser for Wounded Warrior Project) and children under 7 are free...Veterans get in free with proper ID.

                                                                  Up and Down Season Continues

The Mooresville All Americans continue their Jekyll and Hyde routine by beating CVCL powerhouse Catawba Valley Stars 9-3 and 5-2. The boys of summer look real good when they show up and real bad when they don't. Mooresville's next game is Sunday vs the Pulaski Mariners. Good luck Sunday Guys!

Mooresville Takes Two From West Virginia

Picture
Outfielder/1st Base Coach Josh Wood
The Mooresville All Americans traveled to Bluefield West Virginia to battle the West Virginia Wild. The All Americans banged out 45 hits and 28 runs in the two games. The bats are starting to heat up but the pitching is still a question mark. There were many offensive stars on the day as most hitters had solid swings and started to look comfortable at the plate. Check out the game stats on GameChanger. The All Americans have a huge weekend coming up as they battle traditional power Kernersville Bulldogs (7-1) Saturday and Roanoke (6-3) on Sunday. Both games are on the road.

Games at Lexington Are Rained Out

                                                                 Picard Out For the Summer

The Mooresville All Americans are sad to announce that they will be without RF Adam Picard for the summer. Adam got sick towards the end of the school season and battled through it but will not be able to play this summer. All American Nation would like to wish you well and hopefully see you out here next summer! Thanks Adam and get well my friend!

                                                                       Gun Raffle Reminder

If you would like to participate please contact Coach Busa. Thank you very much for your help and good luck with your raffle!

                                                                        Just the Begin-ing

The Mooresville All Americans were led by Dylan Begin (Umass) and swept the Lexington Chops. Lexington pitcher, Nick Boles, pitched real well only giving up 5 hits but the big one by Dylan Begin hurt him. All American, Christian Hicks (Lenoir Rhyne) paced Mooresville with a 5 inning gem before Jacob Russell shut the door for the final two! In game two Mooresville's offense came to life by pounding 10 runs on 10 hits. Everybody hit the ball in game two except for Carmen Congelio who wasn't given the chance as he was hit twice in three at bats. The team played well together and seem to be coming together. After the game the team enjoyed a nice family dinner at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. The fans were also welcomed back and many showed up and enjoyed meeting the players. A big thank you to Five Guys! Stay tuned for a busy week of baseball picking up on Wednesday in Lexington then off to West Virginia. Stay tuned and hope to see you when we come back home on 19Jun for the Military All Star Game.

All Americans Hit 4 Jacks...Not Enough

The Mooresville All Americans hit four home runs today but came up short again. Chris Rosa led the way by belting a 419 ft opposite field jack in game 1 which was quickly followed by Billy Karalis who also went yard in game 1. The two jacks were not enough as the All Americans were downed 10-5. In game 2, Chris Rosa dropped a 423 ft bomb and Zack Smith also went tater in the 8-3 loss. The All Americans swept Roanoke last weekend and Roanoke returned the favor today. The All Americans will do battle tomorrow at Lake Norman HS starting at 1PM and will be looking to get back on track! Lets go boys...get 'R done!

                                                        Mooresville All Americans Get Swept

The Mooresville All Americans got swept yesterday to the Kernersville Bulldogs in the home opener at Lake Norman HS. Coach Busa takes full responsibility for the lack luster performance of his team last night. "It's my fault. I haven't been able to get the kids together for even one practice. We are getting our practice reps in game situations and that's tough to do. When our bats get rolling, we'll be fine". I am still steaming over last night, so that's about all I'm going to write about it! Stay tuned...we will play much better!

EASTON, Pa. - Parker Hills has been selected to the Patriot League Baseball All-Tournament Team, as announced by the league office. The duo combined to hit .571 (8-for-14) in the May 12 doubleheader at Army.

Hills went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in in the series opener at West Point. The freshman catcher also started the nightcap, but was replaced behind the dish due to injury in the bottom of the first inning before registering a plate appearance. Hills wrapped up his rookie season on College Hill with 19 hits and 17 RBI in 81 at-bats.

All Americans Sweep Opening Day DH

Your Mooresville All Americans traveled to Roanoke Va and swept a double-header against the Rails. In Game 1, pitching and defense was the story. Mooresville resident, Josh Holcomb, started the game by making a tremendous leaping grab at second base. In the same inning, the first inning, All American Shortstop JD Long (Waxhaw, NC) made what will probably be the play of the year. He was ranging up the middle when he went into a pop slide to snare the grounder and bounce to his feet and throw out the runner. I gotta say, this kid is LEGIT! Long made play after play, in the hole, up the middle, on the outfield grass and charging the ball. Western Carolina is getting a heck of a player in JD. Catcher Mike Falsetti (Elmwood Park, Il) got the scroing started when he doubled home JD Long who started the inning with a single. Parker Hills (Stanley, NC) then promptly knocked in his buddy Mike. Armand Rugel ( Middleton, RI) threw a great game and was helped out by Casey Liles (Statesville, NC) and Matt Wojichowski (Portsmouth, RI) earned the save. The All Americans won game 1 2-1 and JD Long was game MVP.

In game 2 the offense showed up a little bit in a 5-2 All American victory. Mooresville jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first when Lng got a single, Falsetti doubled, Zack Smith (Granite Quarry, NC) traded places with another double and he was knocked in on a Chris Rosa (Westport, Ma) single. The All Americans had a 3-2 lead in the fourth when Michael Cobb (Union, SC) ended the inning by throwing out the would be tying run with a missile to the plate. Jacob Cadle (Denton, NC) labored through four but pitched well enough to earn the victory. We are expecting huge things from the big left handed pitcher. JD Long was also MVP of game 2 as he went 1-2 with 3 stolen bases and 2 runs. Tuesday the All Americans will travel to Greensboro to take on the Greensboro Reds before they come Lake Norman for their home openers against the perennial powers Kernersville Bulldogs.

                                                                  Red Robin to Feed Players

We would like to thank Red Robin for adding to the experience for these college athletes!  http://www.redrobin.com/

MOUNT OLIVE, NC -- Keaton Hawks' (Lexington, NC/E. Davidson HS) bases-loaded single in the seventh inning broke a 4-4 tie as fifth-seeded Catawba won its first-ever regional championship by beating Francis Marion 8-4 in the NCAA Division II Southeast title game Sunday night at Scarborough Field on the campus of Mount Olive College. Chris Dula (Troutman, NC/S. Iredell HS) added a two-run triple in the ninth and tournament Most Outstanding Player Julio Zubillaga (China Grove, NC/Carson HS) had three hits, an RBI and two runs scored in the win.

Catawba Second Baseman Julio Zubillaga, "It feels amazing pulling this off. It's my first dogpile here. The pitchers did such a great job for us. I think our guys showed a lot of heart coming back after losing the first game the way we did. I think the win we got over Mount Olive really got us going in the right direction and we never looked back."

Prosciutto's Pizza Hits a Grand Slam

Prosciutto's Pizza, in Cornelius, has stepped up to feed the US Military All Star team after the game on 19Jun12. Prosciutto's has a tremendous family atmosphere and is a fantastic restaurant. Joel Plyffer, owner, was more then gracious with his restaurant when he heard the game was a fund-raiser for Wounded Warriors. He was very eager to feed both teams and helps Wounded Warriors every chance he gets. Everyone that attends the game is welcome back to Prosciutto's as he is giving us the restaurant. Thank you Prosciutto's Pizza and we are very excited and grateful for your generosity! If you live in the Lake Norman area and have not been to Prosciutto's, you are doing yourself an injustice. You are missing out on the atmosphere and the pizza. Prosciutto's has much more then pizza but I am quite partial to their pizza! Check out Prosciutto's online and I look forward to seeing you there!  http://prosciuttos.com/

Due to scheduling conflicts, the Mooresville All Americans will be moving four double-headers from Lake Norman HS to Staton Field (East Rowan HS) in Granite Quarry. The All Americans have a large percentage of players from the Rowan County area and this is a great way to show their appreciation for the support for those players. It is not far from Mooresville and Staton Field has beautiful facilities. The schedule should be final but keep yourself updated by checking the website frequently! We are less then a month from opening day and I am PSYCHED!!!!

                                                                       Begin Joins the Jack Parade

Picture
UMass Sophomore Dylan Begin, from Essex, Vt, joined Adam Picard and Nik Campero in the UMass to Mooresville home run parade. Begin started the year hitting in the four hole but a slow start has seen him drop in the order. Begin has been swinging a hot bat lately and UMass is happy to see that as the conference tournament will be from 23May-26May. UMass is currently sitting 2nd in the A-10 Conference after taking 2-3 from St Louis. The boys are reporting to Mooresville 24May and start play on 26May. I am looking forward to these guys getting down here but I won't mind if they don't make it down until June...I'm sure they wouldn't mind either!

Summer college baseball finds a home in Mooresville, too
By: BRIAN MEADOWS | Statesville Record & Landmark
Published: April 20, 2012

Iredell County will offer a collegiate summer baseball league alternative to the Statesville Owls this year.

The Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League added the Mooresville All Americans, whose season begins May 26 with a doubleheader against the Roanoke Rails.

“I think there’s going to be a lot of interest,” Mooresville manager Paul Busa said. “Everybody that I’ve talked to, everybody that I’ve met and told about it, has absolutely fallen in love with the idea.”

His idea.

Busa, a Massachusetts native and retired firefighter, moved to Mooresville in August. Adding to Mooresville’s baseball tradition was a goal of the former college baseball coach. The Class D minor league Mooresville Moors played there from 1937-1952, and Mooresville has been associated with successful American Legion baseball since the early 1970s.

Busa’s hope is Mooresville will be a place where college players can improve their skills in a wooden bat format while elevating their stock as potential minor or major league players.

“Every kid needs a break,” Busa said. “There are a lot of kids out there with talent. Unfortunately, some of them go to smaller (colleges), so they don’t get noticed. That’s where I’m trying to help them out.”

The Mooresville All Americans feature a 31-man roster comprised of college players from along the East Coast. Those that call North Carolina home include a few locals. Outfielder Josh Holcomb and pitcher Casey Liles played their high school ball at Mooresville and Statesville, respectively, and are currently members of the Stanly Community College baseball team.

Scottie Williams, who helped Lake Norman High’s team capture the 2009 3A state baseball championship, was slated to join the All Americans’ pitching staff, but Busa said Williams won’t be able to play due to Tommy John surgery.

Mooresville is one of nine teams in the CVCL. Other members are the Catawba Valley Stars, Fuquay-Varina Twins, Kernersville Bulldogs, Lexington Chops, Roanoke Rails, Tennessee Big Train, Virginia Marlins and West Virginia Wild.

Lake Norman High will serve as Mooresville’s home venue. The All Americans’ May 30 home opener is a doubleheader against Kernersville.

Their 60-plus game schedule includes three dates against teams from the Coastal Plain League and five doubleheaders with 10 teams from the Myrtle Beach League. They will also face the Pulaski (Va.) Mariners, one of Seattle’s minor league affiliates.

The season runs from May 26 to July 29 and is followed by the CVCL tournament Aug. 2-5 at Rich Field in Mocksville.

Busa said he contacted every team in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League, in which the Statesville Owls compete, about scheduling cross-league games but to no avail.

“They have more to lose because they’re a little bit more of an established league,” Busa said. “But I would put my team up against any team in that league on any day.”

The Owls are 40-40 in two SCBL seasons.

Owls part owner Jeff May said SCBL members don’t typically schedule outside of their league.

“We think that any baseball is great baseball, and we’re excited (Mooresville) is going to have a team,” May said.

A more-than competitive team in their first year, Busa believes.

“I think we’re going to be really good,” he said. “We have about 67 games on the schedule, and I will be more than shocked if we don’t win 50 of them. I think we’re going to dominate. I really do.”

                                                             UMass wins coveted Beanpot Trophy

Picture
UMass holds on to an 8-7 victory against Harvard for the Beanpot championship. The Beanpot is made up the top four DI baseball programs in Massachusetts. Redshirt freshman Adam Picard paced the Minutemen offensively with a 3-for-5 day at the plate, including his second home run of the season and a double. He drove in four and scored three, factoring in all but two of the squads eight runs on the day. Picard, and All Americans teammate Nik Campero, had back to back doubles in the 5th. Campero finished 2-2 with a 2B and three walks and an RBI while the third teammate, Dylan Begin, also added a hit to help pace UMass.

Campero Goes Yard as UMass Wins Game One of Beanpot

Picture
Sophomore Nik Campero helps UMass beat Northeastern in game one of the Beanpot. For those who do not know, the Beanpot is a tournament for bragging rights within the big baseball schools in Massachusetts. UMass entered the tournament in 1996 and has won it four times, the last coming in 2008. The three UMass guys playing for the All Americans were responsible for all four runs in yesterdays game. Campero led the way with two RBI's and Picard and Begin each added another. I look forward to this kind of production all summer long from these guys. Good luck next week vs. Harvard in the Beanpot Championship!

Will Chris Rosa Ever Slow Down

Only nineteen games into his season, Massasoit Sophomore Chris Rosa, is hitting .483 with 5 bombs and 10 doubles. With 21 games then the postseason left on the schedule who knows what this kids numbers will look like. Chris is one of my guys staying with a host family. The Misserts, of Mooresville, have opened their doors to this future superstar...thank you Missert Family!

In the fifth, Karalis led off the frame with a solo homer to left centerfield, his first of three home runs in the doubleheader, to give Stonehill a 6-2 lead.

They battled and lost 2-one run games at UCF after getting handled in game one.

The freshman pitcher comes to Stonehill after a standout career at Middletown High School where he earned three RIBCA All-Star selections, Rhode Island All-State honors, two All-Division and two Newport County accolades. Rugel was also named the Newport County Player of the Year and captained his team in his senior season.

Zubie goes deep again. In a 1-1 game, Julio Zubiallaga, stepped up with a runner on and jacked a 2-run shot. Zubie has two home runs already this season and both have come in huge situations. Both have given his team the lead and both times they went on to win. Zubie is hitting .375 with 2 bombs on the season. He is a huge reason for the Catawba Indians being ranked this season.

Julio Zubillaga stepped up big time for Catawba College versus Mars Hill. With his team trailing 3-0, in the bottom of the 3rd, Zubie stepped up with the bases loaded and 1 out and jacked a grand slam over the center field fence. The bomb gave Catawba a 4-3 lead and they never looked back. Catawba ended up winning 9-7 to improve their record to 6-2. In 9 games this season, Zubie is hitting a blistering .387 with a bomb and 7 RBI...stay hot Zubie!

                                                                       First Donation

John Voelker, a Mooresville man with baseball ties, is the first of hopefully many Mooresville residents to step up and support the All Americans through a donation. His generosity will help the All Americans pay their everyday expenses. John is a kind, soft-spoken family man who loves his baseball. He owns Voelker Underwriting Services, Inc and if you are in need of any underwriter services, you would be doing yourself an injustice if you went anywhere else. John is an honest, generous man with a passion for his family, work and baseball. Along with being a HUGE Red Sox fan, he was also a heck of a player in his hay-day. John played Division I baseball in the desert at New Mexico St. It is John, and people like him, that will allow the Mooresville All Americans to thrive and be playing dominate baseball for a long time in Mooresville. Thank you John and I look forward to seeing you at the ball park!

The All Americans will play Coastal Plains teams, travel to Myrtle Beach for a week to play all the teams in the "Beach League", play the US Military All Star Team at home and now play a Professional Minor League baseball team. When asked about the opportunity to play in a professional baseball stadium, Coach Busa replied, "For some of these kids this may not be the only time they will play in a minor league stadium, but for some of the other kids, this will be the thrill of a life-time. Not everyone is blessed enough to play at the next level but I think I have a few guys here that may get that shot". With about 60 games already scheduled, and possibly 26 more with the Southern Collegiate Baseball League in the works, the Mooresville boys of summer will have plenty of baseball games to win this summer. Jump on board it's going to be a wild ride.  All aboard the Crazy Train...Destination...All American Nation!.

                                                                       Home Field

Coach Busa has had a busy couple of days. First, yesterday he inked his first sponsor. The Hilton Garden Inn eagerly stepped up to the plate and will take care of all of our lodging needs.  The HGI has a beautiful facility which includes free wi-fi and a cook to order breakfast that includes omlettes, fresh fruit, scones, muffins and just about anything your little heart could desire. Then, today Coach grabbed a series of games, that will include playing every team in the league once, versus the brand new Myrtle Beach League down in Myrtle Beach.  The boys will spend the last week of June playing eight games in four days and then sunning themselves on day five at the beach. Coach also signed for his home field today. The Mooresville All Americans will be playing their home games at Lake Norman High School which is located at 186 Doolie Road  Mooresville, NC. Just because the All Americans play on one side of the city, don't be fooled, they are the Race Cities baseball team. Coach Busa was quoted as saying, "We don't have two programs, like the American Legion does, we are here for everyone in Mooresville no matter what side of the tracks your are from." As the citizens in Mooresville know, Mooresville is literally divided by train tracks and the sides are considered "Old Mooresville" and "New Mooresville."  Each side offers something special and unique depending on what you desire but this team is looking to unify the city once again and break down the barrier!

The All Americans to travel to Myrtle Beach

The Mooresville All Americans have come to a verbal agreement with Marty Radford, commissioner of the Myrtle Beach Summer Collegiate Baseball League, to travel to Myrtle Beach to play four double-headers. The All Americans will head down to the beach during the last week of June. From June 25-29 the All Americans will play against every team in the MBSCBL. Coach Busa does not appear to be worried by the possibility of facing eight #1 against his eight different starters, "We have great depth throughout our team defensively, offensively and on the mound. I think we will do fine and will make Mooresville proud. My guys are tough, scrappy kids and I expect us to battle everyday." The All Americans will travel to Myrtle Beach the day after they play two against the Lexington Chops and two against Smokey Mountain Big Train, last years runner-up, on consecutive days.  They will arrive on 25Jun and play a double-dip that night then they will play three more double-headers over the next three days. The boys will then have the 29th off to enjoy the beach if they choose. The All Americans will get right back into league play on the 30th with a double-header versus West Virginia. The local Mooresville nine will have an extensive summer season with a lot of great non-league games to go with their grueling CVCL schedule. Mooresville has 55 games on their schedule and could become as many as 70.  I hope to see y'all on opening day.  Stay tuned for more updates!

Mooresville All Americans Land Their First Sponsor

The Mooresville All Americans would like to send out a big THANK YOU to the Hilton Garden Inn - Mooresville. The Hilton Garden Inn will sign on as the first sponsor to the Mooresville All Americans. The HGI is donating 12 rooms for 2 nights for the Military All Star team's visit. They will also be giving a discount to anybody in town to watch the Mooresville All Americans play. Please contact Charles Oliver at the Hilton Garden Inn for details. Thank you again Hilton Garden Inn, without your generosity, this game may not be able to happen. Please visit the Hilton Garden Inn at www.charlottemooresville.hgi.com.

The United States Military All Star Team Is Coming To Mooresville

Picture
On 19Jun12, the US Military All Stars will be marching into Mooresville to do battle with the All Americans. I am very excited to bring a game of this magnitude to Mooresville. Mooresville has a great baseball tradition and a strong veterans presence. There are over 18,000 veterans living here in Mooresville. The Military team will perform a Ground Zero Flag Ceremony as well as many other Patriotic events on game day.  We salute each and every member of our military, past, present and those who will make the decision to protect us in the future.  As a veteran, I am honored to be involved in what I hope will be a treasured tradition in our city. In Mooresville, we have in my opinion, the greatest Military Museum around. Richards Coffee shop and Military Museum is located in the heart of downtown Mooresville. Mooresville has great tradition in baseball. Many "townies" have Mooresville pegged as a football town but the Race City had a professional baseball team dominating the streets and the local conversation. From 1937-1952, the Mooresville Moors played Class-D professional baseball at Moor Park in downtown Mooresville. Major League Baseball and Hall of Fame pitcher Hoyt Wilhelm thrilled the local fans back in the hay-day of Moor Park. The proud city of Mooresville was once unified through baseball and will be again. We are looking to reunite both sides of the city and bring everyone together again with this baseball team and game. This truly is a game for everyone to enjoy. This is a family oriented baseball team that has strong Military connections and hold military values close to our hearts. We will always honor our brothers and sisters who serve, and all fellow Americans, in everything we do. We have made a $1,000 donation to the Wounded Warrior project and will be donating a percentage of the profits from our tickets sales for this game. Lets see how much money we can raise for the people who have sacrificed everything for us to have the right to play this game. I look forward to meeting you all at the field on game day to honor and celebrate our hometown boys and national heroes. Tickets for this game, and season tickets will be available soon. Stay tuned for more ticket information or contact Paul Busa at coachbusa@gmail.com.

Mooresville is located 30 minutes North of Charlotte home of an enthusiatic and vibrant baseball community. Situated on a beautiful 34 mile lake with 520 miles of shoreline. Home to upscale shopping and entertainment, Mooresville is officially called Race City USA because of its proximity to the charlotte motor speedway NASCAR race track, and is home to various professional race car drivers and their shops. Mooresville was the former home of The Mooresville Moors, a class D professional baseball team, that played from 1937-1952 with brief stoppages due to the war. The Baseball spirit is alive and well in this area and excited to welcome a new group of collegiate athletes!
